Day 15: Minnesota to Wisconsin; Duluth,
Mn to Bayfield, Wisc. Sept 10; 75 miles
We could not see an easy way to bike thru
Duluth to South of
Superior so we drove from Duluth Canal area across
the big bridge to Superior. (We later found, if you take your bike from Duluth across the
Highway
2 bridge into Superior, then take 2 almost to 53, turn South on E 5th to 31st
East to 2 to County Rd E to 13.) On the Road 13, you ride thru beautiful rolling farming areas along the road to Cornucopia where we had a great soup lunch. The road from Cornucopia to the Red Cliff was broken up with a deep crack all the way across the road every 50 feet or so. These cracks were quite bone jarring on a bike with no suspension. At Red Cliff, the road was great again starting at the reservation land and on into Bayfield where we spent the night at the lovely Winfield Inn & Gardens.
